Projects
2020-2023
Earth Observation for Education (EO4Edu) is an Erasmus+ Project (KA201 - Strategic Partnerships for school education) with partners from Greece, Germany, Czech Republic and the UK, starting in late 2020. It focuses on developing resources and training for teachers, enabling them to develop lessons within existing STEM curricula, based on remote sensing, geospatial science and satellite Earth Observation (EO). EOLab is one of the major Partners of the project.
2022-2024
The main objective of the Project is to provide the CarboNostrum HUB with educational/training resources to empower potential end-users (smallholders, young and new agricultural producers, stakeholders and policy makers, Agricultural Cooperatives, Local Development Associations, Rural Areas Municipalities), with the best possible tools and knowledge to apply climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions in poor and degraded lands of Mediterranean ecosystems, by attending courses and access research and educational material.
2018-2022
EO4GEO is about Innovative solutions for Earth Observation/Geoinformation training. It aims to help bridging the skills gap between supply and demand of education and training in the EO/GI sector. EOLab is actively participating to the project as an Asscociated Partner.
2019-2020
This project involves the provision of services for the development of an integrated coastal zone observatory system in the Region of Central Macedonia. It is part of a larger project concerning the development of an integrated observatory system for the prevention and management of coastal erosion risk, under the Influence of climate change, through the utilization of Earth Observation Data. EOLab is participating as a sub-contractor.
2019-2023
Resilient farming by adaptive microclimate managements (STARGATE). AUTh is a project partner. EOLab participation: Dr. E. Katragkou.
2017-2020
GET UP is a European project launched in December 2017 within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme dealing with Geomarketing as an entrepreneurship tool. The main objective of the Project is to provide a GET UP Learning Platform to empower potential end-users seeking their first job, with new knowledge and competencies. EOLab was participating as a Partner.
2017-2021
Enhancing Food Security in African AgriCultural Systems with the support of Remote Sensing (AfriCultuReS) aims to design, implement and demonstrate an integrated agricultural monitoring and early warning system that will support decision making in the field of food security. AfriCultuReS delivers a broad range of climatic, production, biophysical and economic information, for various regions in Africa. AfriCultuReS applies geospatial science to sustainable agricultural development, natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, and poverty alleviation in Africa. AUTh is a project partner. EOLab participation: Dr. E. Katragkou, Dr. A. Mouratidis
2018-2021
Copernicus for environmental law enforcement support (EnviroLENS) aims to widely open the doors towards regular usage of EO technologies in legal sector. AUTh is a project Partner. EOLab participation: Dr. A. Mouratidis.
2011
Contribution of earth observation data and geographical information systems to mapping and managing flood events in Greece (CEOGIS-Floods). Funded by the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.
2012-2015
Vegetation mapping and biomass estimation with modern remote sensing methods in order to fulfill the country's obligations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol. AUTh was a project Partner. EOLab participation: Dr. A. Mouratidis.
1997-2000
ASTERISMOS: Application of space technology to environmental aspects of surface mining - A surface mining decision support system. EOLab (at the time as a Remote Sensing Research Group) was a partner to this FP4 project.
2004-2007
e-EcoRisk: A regional enterprise network decision-support system for environmental risk and disaster management of large-scale industrial spills. EOLab was a partner to this FP5 project.
