Michael
Foumelis

Head of EO.Lab | Michael is a Geologist-Geophysicist specialized in imaging geodesy and geohazards. He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physical & Environmental Geography, AUTh. Michael has been a staff member of the Risks and Prevention Unit at the French Geological Survey (BRGM) and EO scientist at the European Space Agency (ESA).

Antonios
Mouratidis

Antonios is a Rural & Surveying Engineer and a Geologist, with a focus on geospatial education and applications. He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physical & Environmental Geography, AUTh. Antonios has been a PhD student at Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS) and EO specialist at the European Space Agency (ESA).

Christos Domakinis

Christos received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, his MSc on Physical Geography and Environment and his Doctoral Degree (PhD) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. He has worked as an employee in the private and public sector. Currently, works as a freelance geologist. His research focuses on GIS, Remote Sensing and natural hazards.

Marios Koutsoukos

Marios is an Agronomist with a PhD from the Faculty of Agriculture, AUTh, as well as with a Master in Education from the Hellenic Open University. He is a certified Educator of Adult Educators and Adjunct Lecturer at the School of Pedagogical & Technological Education (ASPETE), the American Farm School of Thessaloniki and the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government.

Triantafyllia Perivolioti

Triantafyllia graduated with a BSc in Biology and an Interdepartmental MSc on Ecological water quality and management. Her research focuses on the application of remote sensing techniques in monitoring of freshwater ecosystems.

George Siavalas

George Siavalas graduated from the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology in 2016, with a degree in Computer Engineering. He continued his studies and obtained his Master’s degree in “Advanced Computer and Information Technologies” from the same institution in 2019. Continuing his academic journey, he is currently a doctoral candidate at the International University of Greece, Department of Computer Science.

Eleni Katragkou

Eleni is a Physicist, Assoc. Prof. at the Department of Meteorology & Climatology, AUTh, with a PhD on Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics from the University of Heidelberg. Focusing on physical climatology and regional climate modeling, she is involved in the coordination of the European Regional Climate Program EURO-CORDEX. In 2012, she received the national L’oreal-UNESCO prize for Women in Science.

Dimitrios Ampatzidis

Dimitrios is a Geodesist. He holds a PhD in the area of reference frames realization and Diploma as Surveying Engineer. His main scientific fields are: space techniques simulations, datum definitions, accuracies of the space techniques and local ties, GNSS and SLR analysis, theory of reference frames, surveying, DEM assessment, Least Squares Adjustment.

Ilieva

Maya is a Geodesist, specialized in radar remote sensing for natural and man-made hazards. She holds a PhD degree in Geosciences from University Pierre and Marie Curie – Paris 6, France. Currently she is a researcher in the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics at Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Poland.

Ioannis Mintourakis

Ioannis (Yannis) is a Geodesist. He holds a PhD in Marine Geodesy from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). His main scientific interests include: Mean Sea Surface, Marine Geoid and Mean Dynamic Ocean Topography modelling, Satellite Altimetry, Airborne and Marine/shipborne GNSS altimetry and gravimetry.

José Manuel Delgado Blasco

José Manuel is an Earth Observation expert specialized in advanced algorithm development, using SAR and multi-spectral data fusion. Holds a double Ph.D. diploma from TU Delft and KU Leuven on Geoscience and Remote Sensing and has been working during the last decade in advanced InSAR techniques for monitoring critical infrastructure and natural hazards.

Georgia Karadimou

Georgia is a Geologist with an MSc degree in Geography and Environment from AUTh, with international professional experience at the European Space Agency (ESA)/SERCO ITALIA SpA (RUS Copernicus), as well as at ETH Zürich, Department of Earth Sciences, as a Scientific Assistant. Her PhD research is on the compound nature of geohazards, studied with Earth Observation data and GIS.

Zoe Pantazopoulou

Zoe is a Geologist with an MSc in Engineering Geology from AUTh. Her doctoral research investigates the management of geological heritage from the perspective of  the contribution of remote sensing and GIS. Zoe has also a significant experience in education, training and outreach activities  around the Science of Geology and associated topics.

Panagiotis Kalaitzis

Panagiotis is a graduate of the School of Geology, AUTh, with a MSc in Geography & Applied Geoinformatics in Natural Environment & Hazards Management of the Department of Geography, University of the Aegean (UAegean).  His PhD is on Cartography and Earth Observation at UAegean, in collaboration with EOLab. His scientific interests include: Geology, Physical Geography, Cartography, GIS, Spatial Analysis and natural hazards.

Anastasia Mpougeli

Natasa is a Geologist and a postgraduate student of Hydrogeology, with a focus on Geoscience Education. She has participated in cave explorations/mapping in Northern Greece (Hellenic Speleological Society) and South Wales (BCRA) as well as in paleontological excavations. She worked as a tour guide at the Natural History Museum of Lesvos Petrified Forest, as well as at Noesis – Science Center & Technology Museum.

Nikolaos Voutsis

Nikolaos is a Geologist (BSc) with a focus on Environmental Geography, graduated from AUTh. He is an MSc student in Natural Hazards and Disaster Mitigation, at the University of the Aegean. Currently working with EO.Lab as a research assistant in the context of various projects which are mainly related to GIS.

Evdoxia Voskidou

Evdoxia completed her studies at the School of Primary Education, AUTh. She is a graduate student of the Postgraduate Program “Education Sciences: Teaching Methods and Learning Processes” – section “Digital Applications in the Education of Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)”. She is currently elaborating her dissertation on “Studying changes on the Earth’s surface with the use of satellite imagery: A teaching proposal for primary education”.

Efstathios Papadopoulos

Efstathios (Stathis) is a Geologist with an MSc in Environmental Hydrogeology from AUTh. He also a retired professional of the Hellenic Army. His contributions to EO.Lab are mainly related to GIS, field work and collection of in-situ data.  

Sotirios Kechagias

Sotiros is an MSc Student of Geo-Information Sciense. He is responsible for the development and maintenance of EO.Lab websites. His scientific interests include Remote sensing, GIS, Environmental Programming and Hydrogeology.

Eleni Salapasidou

Eleni (Lena) graduated from AUTh with a BSc in Geology and a thesis on the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote sensing for geohazard monitoring. She iscurrently working with EO.Lab as a part-time research assistant in the context of various projects and activities.

Anastasios Nikolaidis

Anastasios (Tasos) is a Geologist with an Interdepartmental MSc on Ecological water quality and management. He is a field work and in-situ collection data expert in aquatic and other environments, GNSS and terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) campaigns etc. He is also a teacher of Geology-Geography in secondary education.

Polyvios Vladenidis

Polyvios is a Rural and Surveying Engineer and a Geologist with an MSc in Agronomy. He has more than 20 years of professional experience as a freelance geologist and surveying engineer, as well as in collecting in-situ data, and conducting extensive field work for various projects.

Georgios Moschopoulos

George is a Rural and Surveying Engineer with extensive experience in field work, including classical surveying, GNSS measurements and aerial photogrammetry. He is also a certified UAV pilot.
